Sul mio sito web ufficiale, grazie alla collaborazione di amici pratici nel montaggio video, sono stati aggiunti due nuovi video tratti da un concerto tenuto nell'ambito del Festival della Chitarra Città di Nuoro - Omaggio ad Angelo Gilardino, una importante manifestazione svoltasi a Nuoro che ebbe risonanza internazionale e che si snodava su 7 appuntamenti tra cui conferenze, convegni e concerti.

I video in questione riguardano un mix di esecuzioni (in formato demo) di opere del compositore paraguayano Agustin Barrios Mangorè (Mazurka Apasionata, Vals op.8 n.3 e Allegro da "La Catedral") e le esecuzioni complete di due Studi di Virtuosità e di Trascendenza del compositore vercellese Angelo Gilardino (Capriccio sopra la lontananza e Trenodia).

Aggiunto un nuovo video alla sezione Video del mio sito internet personale. Si tratta di un'estratto da un concerto solista tenuto in Italia nel mese di Agosto del 2007. Due soli studi di Angelo Gilardino: la qualità audio è appena accettabile (il riverbero delle chiese è veleno per i microfoni delle videocamere amatoriali).

The regional daily newspaper "La Nuova Sardegna" has given attention to the "Concerto di Fine Anno 2007" that has taken place in Nuoro, Teatro Eliseo. The organization was made by Associazione Musicare di Nuoro

In my LiveSpace Album I have published two articles. In a few days I will publish also some photos of event. The numerous public (over 500 people) has listened with attention.

	Every year, from 1994, I play in Nuoro (my town) only one concert, the 30th December; the appointment is called "Concerto di Fine Anno". The Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco pen

During my visit to Gilardino (in the occasion of the concert in Vercelli of November 2) I have had the pleasure to read the letters of Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco sent to Gilardino between 1967 and 1969.

A strong emotion, to read the words written by one of the most important composers for guitar and strong emotion to be able to tighten in my hand the pen that Castelnuovo Tedesco has used for writing letters and music!

A short biography of Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco (In italian language)

Allievo di Ildebrando Pizzetti, dopo essersi diplomato in pianoforte e composizione riscosse sin dall'inizio della carriera ottimi consensi in tutta Europa. Nel 1925, con La mandragola, vinse un importante concorso di composizione e l'opera fu rappresentata al Teatro La Fenice di Venezia. Ebbe tra gli intepreti delle sue musiche artisti del calibro di Alfredo Casella, Arthur Gieseking, Jascha Heifetz, Gregor Piatigorsky e Andrés Segovia.

Figlio di una famiglia ebrea - attiva da generazioni nel campo della finanza - a causa delle leggi razziali promulgate dal regime fascista, nel 1939 Castelnuovo-Tedesco fu costretto a lasciare l'Italia con la sua famiglia e a trasferirsi negli Stati Uniti, dove si affermò a Hollywood come autore "fantasma" di colonne sonore (pochissime sono quelle che gli vennero accreditate) e come insegnante di composizione. Ebbe tra i suoi allievi Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, Henry Mancini, André Previn e John Williams.

Nel 1958 vinse il Concorso Campari con l'opera Il mercante di Venezia, che fu rappresentata al Maggio musicale fiorentino sotto la direzione di Gianandrea Gavazzeni.

Dotato di una vena melodica ricchissima e fluente, Castelnuovo-Tedesco eccelse soprattutto nel campo della musica vocale: «Ho scritto una grande quantità di melodie vocali nella mia vita; ne ho pubblicate centocinquanta (per non parlare di quante sono rimaste inedite nel cassetto) e le ho composte in tutte le lingue che conosco - italiano, francese, inglese, tedesco, spagnolo, latino. La mia ambizione e, ancora più, una urgenza profonda, è sempre stata quella di unire la mia musica ai testi poetici che hanno destato il mio interesse e la mia emozione, per coglierne l'espressione lirica».¹

Compositore colto e raffinato, musicò autori come Cavalcanti, Petrarca, Vogelweide, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Lorca, Whitman. La preparazione tecnica solidissima gli permise di avere un dominio assoluto della forma e del contrappunto. Nel secondo dopoguerra fu criticato (anche aspramente) per il suo linguaggio conservatore, legato in egual misura al romanticismo tardo ottocentesco, all'impressionismo e al folklore spagnolo.

Oggi è ricordato soprattutto per la sua produzione per chitarra, strumento a cui si dedicò con attenzione per tutta la vita, e a cui regalò le sue pagine più ispirate e autobiografiche.

Rotary Club Nuoro Recital

I was contacted by Rotary Club of Nuoro for a concert during one of the seasonal meeting.

In this concert I will play a very mixed program with music of Dionisio Aguado, Leo Brouwer, Angelo Gilardino, Francisco Tarrega, Johann Kaspar Mertz and Mauro Giuliani.

The program will not be printed because of the short time available for the organization. I have to present the program and I do not like to speak before playing. I hope that the organizers find another solution.

I will try after 5 years "Les Arbres Rouges" by Angelo Gilardino that I am preparing for recording (Trascendentia Vol.5) and for the concert on 30 December 2007

The concert will take place in a conference-room in Nuoro in the Hotel Paradiso

Concert in Posada, July 30

Today I have received the confirmation of a new contract for a concert in Posada, an ancient village near to Nuoro.

I believe that it will be a good occasion to play for the first time Ikonostas by Angelo Gilardino.

Some information about Posada:

Posada (Latin: Pheronia[1] or Feronia, and later Pausata) a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia. The city sites on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,394 and an area of 33.52 km².[2]
Posada borders the following municipalities: Budoni, Siniscola and Torpè.
Within Posada's territory was the ancient city of Feronia or Pheronia, the foundation of which is ascribed to the Etruscan or Nuragici peoples, which contained a now lost temple to the Etruscan goddess Feronia.
During the Roman period, the town's importance declined with the foundation of nearby Portus Luguidonis.
In the middle ages, Posada was main town of an historical district called Baronia di Posada or Baronia Alta (to be distinguished from Baronia Bassa or Baronia di Orosei/Galtelli'), on the Tyrrhenian coast of the island.
The ancient part of the town is in a spectacular position on the top of a hill, where it preserves a particular medieval historical center, with ruins of a castle (Castello della Fava) and a square panoramic tower of the 13th century.
The castle has been the equivalent of a holiday residence for the Giudichessa Eleanor of Arborea, and was object of alternate possession by the Giudicato d'Arborea and the Aragon, during the long fight before the Spanish conquest.
The castle became then the seat of the Baron of Posada, a title and a fief created in 1431 for Don Nicolò Carroz and formally ended in 1856, when it was finally bought by the kingdom of Sardinia (the last one of all Sardinian fiefs).

Miami return

Total time to reach Miami: 14 hours but with a fantastic airline company (Swiss) that has directly brought me to Miami from Zurich!

The general service is very better than American Airlines! No problems with guitar, no problems with ridiculous multiple passports checks, no problems with selection of place and a lots of movies and computer games during the flight with the possibility to choose the program/game in in autonomous way and without being forced to look stupid American comedies.

The airport was very near to my Hotel and after 10 minutes I have reached my room that my friend Carlos Molina (president of Miami Guitar Foundation) has reserved for me.

Put aside the very bad quality (the word in Spanish it is 'fatal') of the coffee (Sorry, I am Italian!) is the first time that I eat in decent way in the United States without spending too much money!

A good quantity of fruit and vegetable also in the most substantial recipes,like this:

During my permanence I have been busy in concerts and in the jury in the Miami International Guitar Competition but after 6 PM had the whole time to work to the concerts for guitar and orchestra that I'm preparing for the next dates.

It was not certain the landscape of my home but a window, during the study, is for me necessary.

During the only free afternoon Carlos has organized a beautiful tour in the whole city of Miami.

We have seen a lot of things but all very artificial. Also the famous "Miami Beach":

for me one of sad beaches that I have ever seen:Cement and glass, and then still cement and glass.

Colin Davin has won the Guitar Competition. A good level of all the competitors.

The jury has had difficulty to select only three finalists. Bravo Colin!

Concert in Miami, June 2007

My second concert in June will be in Miami (FL), USA. I will play for the Miami 3d International Festival and I will be in the International Jury in the Miami International Guitar Competition.
